Bookabuy.com.au Review & Giveaway!!

Bookabuy.com.au is an online book subscription service established in 2015 by Chris and Melissa Tantchev, who both have a huge passion for books (my favourite type of people!) :)
I was fortunate enough to be given a one-month subscription for this service, and best of all, I will be giving away a 3-month subscription to one of my followers!

So, what is Bookabuy.com.au?
Basically, you
A: visit the website, opt for your subscription preference (you have a choice of 3, 6, or 12 months)
B: choose your book subscription category (options include fantasy, chick lit, autobiographies, crime & thriller, YA, classics, and even kids, plus more!)
C: provide a little bit of information about yourself (or the person the subscription is for) just to help tailor a book to you or your recipient's particular tastes.
And that's it!!
You will receive a lovely gift-wrapped book in the mail, like this:

In my subscription package, I received the book 'The One We Fell In Love With' by Paige Toon.
I was delighted with it. Chris and Melissa chose this book for me based on the information I had provided them regarding my reading habits, and they made a great choice. This definitely would have been a book I would have chosen for myself.

I think that Bookabuy.com.au is a fantastic concept, whether it be for yourself or to give as a gift to a friend or family member.
Bookabuy.com.au have offered my readers a special discount code that entitles you to 10% off your order. Just enter THEGOODBOOKSBLOG at checkout.

And I am so glad that I get to give away a 3-month subscription to Bookabuy.com.au!!!!

  1. What a great concept! I love that! Also an awesome gift idea.
I would choose chick lit because when I read I want to escape the world and find more fun, energetic and empowering women to hang out with in my mind. I also love autobiographies for the same reason. Reading about them makes me feel like they're my new best friend. Does that sound sad and desperate?

PS Excluding ACT? Does this mean I can't enter? Or do you mean it's only open to Aussie residents except for those overseas folks who are currently in Canberra at embassies?

    1. Hi Leanne, I have ammended the T&C's to include ACT residents; I was told that ACT has different laws for competitions and requires a permit, but I have looked into it and I think it's fine to have it open to residents of ACT aswell, so apologies for the hassle.
Good luck with your entry, it doesn't sound sad or desperate at all!! I love chick lit too!! xx

  2. Mixed Genre of course! With a leaning towards modern fiction and crime. Or maybe just a surprise a month to stretch me.

  3. If I was lucky enough to win, I'd select Mixed Genre because I can't narrow my selection to just one! Horror is my recent favorite because it's fun to scare myself a little and read about spooky shenanigans, then there's Fantasy so I can escape to another reality without the limitations of our mundane world (I want magic! dragons! paranormal creatures!) and finally YA, because I might be in my late 20s, but I still feel like a teenager at heart. ;)

  4. What a great idea. I would love this and it would make a great gift for the book lover in one's life too. Hmmm, I think I'd have to go chick lit because I often read before bed and don't want anything too scary/exciting/challenging as otherwise my brain will go up a gear, instead of winding down!

  8. What a fantastic idea for a subscription. This is an excellent way to try novels you would not normally buy or borrow. Personally, I enjoy fictional novels and fantasy. Harry Potter type things. Thanks for linking up with the Aussie Giveaway Linkup. :D

  11. If I actually won this is would choose mixed genre (I know it is basic) as I would be stuck between which to choose. I would love this experience I love to read and don't usually have the time t buy books. I love when I read that i get transported to another world; I can't tell is that means I get to emotionally attached to the story. This (like everyone else here says) looks like an amazing opportunity to try out new books and new authors.

  12. I would choose mixed genre (even though everyone else has chosen it) as I always over think what I want and if I really want it. This will be amazing for me as I don't have much time to buy books so this give-away will be a great way to get new books. Also to broaden my horizon with new books and new authors. Thank god I found a website for Aussie book-worms like myself.

So many interesting boxes to choose from but I think I would choose Chick Lit as there always seems to be great books perfect for a little bit of me time.

  20. I think I would probably pick mixed genre. I love to find books that are interesting that I might not have picked by myself. My poppy used to go to the library once a week and pick 20 books to bring home. We would all read them (my poppy, my dad & I) so I was exposed to many different styles and authors. As a teen my favourites were fantasy & sci-fi, but I would read anything, even the cereal packet when I was no longer allowed to read a book whilst eating breakfast! I thank them for my love of reading, which I have passed onto my children with varying degrees of success. I don't go a day without reading - I even have a book next to the computer to read whilst waiting for pages to load :)

  21. I would choose the Autobiography Subscription. I love that you can always learn so much from people's experiences.

  22. Historical fiction as it's the newest genre I've discovered and I already own way too many fantasy/horror/ya/classics books. It's a great way to learn about events with a fictional twist. Great giveaway, thank you.

  23. I'd choose non-fiction. I love philosophy, history and science, and generally anything that helps me understand the world a little better.

  24. Mixed genre (modern fiction, young adult, chick lit, autobiography, historical fiction, adult coloring) is what i would choose, as reading different genres of books keeps my brain active and lets me muse, different books also allow me to read them first and then share so that others can read, as books bring people together and discussing them is so much fun especially with a tasty feed.
